Garlon "Gordy" Braun, of Pelican Lake, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his home. He was 74 years old. He was born on April 13, 1938 in Pickerel, a son of the late Norman and Almara (Benser) Braun. He married Sharon (Heller) Kasmarek on May 22, 1998 in Rhinelander. She survives.
He attended Antigo High School for three years and graduated from White Lake High School.
Mr. Braun served in the United States Army from December 29, 1958 to June 25, 1964 and received a Medal of Merit.
He was employed at Perfix in Milwaukee for 18 years. In 2001 he retired from Twist Drill in Rhinelander.
He enjoyed ice fishing and hunting at the family cabin where he was known as the "Camp Cook".
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Brian (Janet) Braun, Greenfield; three daughters, Cindy (Ken) Kacmarcik, South Milwaukee, Shelly Braun (Joe), Green Bay and Patricia Braun, Fort Meyers Beach, FL; a brother, Ronald (Carol) Braun, Pickerel; two sisters, Janice Bocek (Jim), Anna (Chuck) Maenner, Waterloo; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Susan (Robert) Urbans, Rhinelander, Wendy (John) Eades, Rhinelander; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff; infant daughter, Michelle; a grandson; and two brothers, Marlin and Marshall Braun.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Pickerel with Rev. Michael Mathey officiating. Visitation will be 9 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.
