Walter Birk, of Rhinelander, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Antigo. He was 70 years old. He was born on June 26, 1942 in Milwaukee a son of Edwin and Gladys (Halkey) Birk. He married Marilyn Mueller on September 24, 1983 in Milwaukee. She survives.
Mr. Birk moved to Clearwater Lake in 1992 and owned and operated The Old Stag Restaurant until retiring in 2007.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Aaron Vasholz, Aurora, CO; a nephew, Richard (Joan Hawley) Schluge; and a niece, Vicki (Robert) Kuenzi.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Schluge.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dear Marilyn; I am so sorry to hear of Walt's passing. I hope that with the passage of time, that you're able to remember those times when he was well and able to participate in your lives. He's now young and healthy in heaven.
Oh Marilyn so sorry that you lost your love. Wally was a great friend and boss, and we will forever share the funny stories that we all shared.
