James McMillen, of Antigo, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at Autumn Leaves Lane in Birnamwood. He was 85 years old. He was born on July 13, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota a son of Arthur and Esther (Tapio) McMillen. He married Joan Heise on July 13, 1984 at Antigo. She survives.
He was raised in Duluth where he worked on the Railroad for a number of years. He served in the United States Army as a cook on the front lines. He logged for many years in Wisconsin and also worked as a mechanic in the Antigo area. He enjoyed trips to the casinos.
Survivors including his wife are a step-son Alan (Joy) Heise, Fond du Lac; a step-daughter Dixie (David) Borchert, Fond du Lac; two sisters Florence Trowbridge, River Falls, Mary Carter, LaCrosse; five step-grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Jim; a sister, Catherine Hardy, two brothers David and John McMillen, one step-great grandson.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Chaplain Cindy Bachara officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
