Thinking of all of you.

D Deb Strugalla on Sep 30, 2012

I met Betty and Dave at Two Angels Restaurant in 2000. I waited on them many times as I was a waitress there. We clicked right away and Betty always had a smile on her face that made you feel warm inside. Even though we didn't see each other much after I quit there, whenever she and I would meet, she always wrapped me in a BIG bear hug with a kiss on the cheek. I was not aware of her passing until I was at church on Oct. 30 and saw her family there but not Betty. I will miss her smile and kindness, but am sure she is with our Lord smiling down on us every day. God bless you, Betty, and your family that they may get through this very sad time.

I loved her so much. Both Betty and Dave always made me feel like I was the President coming to town or something awesome. It was an event. She always had a smirk like she was about to make a zinger joke or say something smart assed. I loved her quick wit and how she could make me feel so loved. Some of my best childhood memories are with papa and her. She was the last anchor person for me up north and now I feel like its the end of an era. I hope that the younger component of this huge family can start to hang on to the connections we have and make them stronger to preserve the ties that Margaret and Leo started. This family is so important to me and I don't feel as close to any other people, even though I go sometimes a year without seeing them. Whenever papa and Betty were together it was a laugh a minute and I was the special guest. (Who sometimes made a huge mess in the kitchen or put lily pads in bowls in her kitchen.) Hanging out as a child on the pontoon boat is a memory forever cemented in my mind. Betty was the best and there is a hole in my heart. I miss her already.

I am sorry to learn of your family sorrow. The death of a loved one is painful. If I may, I'd like to share scripture found in your Bible that may comfort you in some way. John 6:40 reads...For this is the will of my Father, that everyone that beholds the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life. You see, according to this promise, we have hope.

To Dave, Steve, Lisa and families,
Betty was an amazing woman who I looked up to as another mother. She was always there to lift me up when I got down and to give me a kick in the seat to get me going! LOL I will miss her laugh, her smile, her quick wit, her compassion, and knowing that no matter how much time lapsed between contact, I could always pick up the phone and know that she would be there with an open ear and heart. I will miss you sooo much Mom and when you see my dad, please give him a good elbow-shot to the ribs and tell him I said I love him and miss him too.

I will always remember Betty, for there is not a year that went by that she did not remember me with cards and notes even when I was in the Air Force. She always had a smile for me. This is a sad day, but memories will live on.

Mom, thank you so much for always being there and teaching me how to be a good friend. Even though I know you'll always be with me, my heart breaks knowing how much I will miss talking with you nearly every day. You are my best friend. I love you with all my heart.
