Mary Oesterreicher, a longtime Antigo resident died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Homme Home in Wittenberg. She was 97 years old. She was born on February 18, 1915 in Antigo, a daughter of Charles and Frances (Sparrow) Freiders. She married Frank Oesterreicher on July 17, 1937 in Bay City, Michigan. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1995.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1934.
She lived in Michigan for a number of years and returned to Antigo in 1957.
Mrs. Oesterreicher worked as a nursing assistant at Langlade Memorial Hospital and operated a hobby farm in the town of Rolling.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Antigo and enjoyed baking.
Survivors include four daughters Jeanne Opperman, Essexville, Michigan, Mary Catherine (Dean) Greeno, Couerd'aline, Idaho, Carol (Bob) Riesenberger, Charlevoix, Michigan, Jan Oesterreicher, Chicago, Illinois; a son George (Mary) Oesterreicher, Birnamwood; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Charles (Cindy) Oesterreicher, two sisters Ruth and Martha, a brother Paul.
A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo with Rev. William Brunner officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
