Grandma, Im grown now, but the smell of banana bread still brings me to tears. Id give anything to sit in your rocker chair and look out the window and listen to your sweet voice. You always stayed in touch with Mom, and that made me feel like we mattered. You never forgot a birthday, or holiday. You and grandpa would always stop on your way home just to say hi to us kids and Deliver the "goodies" as you called them.. I remember Grandpa always wore his brown slacks with his belt, shirt always tucked in perfectly... I could always tell when it was you and him pulling into our drive way. Just seeing your beautiful red curls and your smile. I cant forget the little hairs on top of grandpas head that would spring back into place after he ran his hand over his head. I'll never forget going into the basement and playing around on the exercise machines grandpa made listening to his stories, and jokes i never understood..I loved racing up the long stairs to your front room that was always chilly, but comfortable. The house was always warm, and the smell, i cant describe it, but i know it in my heart... In my memories it glows, the walls the couch the floor everything glows an amber color.. I always felt safe and loved knowing I had you both. You and my mother wrote letters, and you always said you loved us and I miss that. It has been some years, and so much has happened and changed.. BUT never did i ever forget your love, your warmth or your memory. I giggle remembering the heart shaped pillow paddle that hung on the wall. To this day it does not matter that you son or his son skipped loving us, because we had you and grandpa. Grandma Ruth N Grandpa Joe you were unconditional love. Keep my brother safe till i meet with you and him again. Love you Grandma -JusticeAnn Migas
Phillip Ruth made a nice dinner every summer for us
Please accept our condolences on the loss of your mother.
I have many memories of Joe and Ruth. All good ones. I think my favorite was when they were chaperones at the Prom. We exchanged partners and danced to, the Eddie Schroepher Band. There were no such things as DJ's then...LOL He played Big Band Ballroom music. I have never seen decorations in a gym like Elcho always did for the Proms. Couldn't even see the ceiling because of all the twisted crepe paper strung across. Every corner and the stage were decorated... Ruth and Joe were smiles from ear to ear...... And we were mirror images....LOL LOL
I'm sorry for your loss, Phil. Being the only child is not easy, but you sure do feel NEEDED!! I had the care of my parents as they aged also.
Ruth was always so proud of you, and I saw many family pictures....
Hugs of comfort to you, from us....
