Wayne Jester, of Kempster, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Eastview Nursing Home. He was 74 years old. He was born on February 27, 1938 in Wausau, a son of Gerald and Esther (Thompson) Jester. He married Donna Shaffer on November 23, 1963 in Waukesha. She survives.
He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1962 having been stationed in Germany. After service he worked at Amron Corp. in Waukesha and transferred to their Antigo plant in 1968. Mr. Jester owned and operated Change of Pace Bar south of Antigo from 1977 to 1980. He also worked for Eaton Corporation for 13 years in Milwaukee and retired from Arcon Manufacturing in 2002.
He was a founding member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Antigo and enjoyed fishing, hunting and will be remembered for burning chicken on the grill.
Survivors including his wife are a son John (Terri) Jester, Elcho, two grandchildren Christopher Jester, Elcho, Brandon Jester and fiancée Alysha, Madison; two brothers Gordon Jester, West Allis, James Jester, Texas; a brother-in-law Gene (Joan) Shaffer, Texas; five sisters-in-law Sandra Amdahl, Springfield, ILL, Lynn Jester, Wauwatosa, Kay Jester, Milwaukee, Judy Jester, Waukesha, Nancy Shaffer-Gray, Waukesha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Glenn and Ronald Jester, a sister, Karen Jester, a brother-in-law, Gary Shaffer.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church Highway 45 Antigo, with Rev. Michael Spaude officiating. Burial will take place in Kempster Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home and Monday an hour prior to services at the church.
