Ronald S Maus, of Kempster, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at his home under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 76 years old. He was born on October 30, 1935 in Howard, a son of Sylvester and Margaret (Nockers) Maus. He married Margaret Jensen on November 8, 1958 in Shawano. She survives.
He was raised in Howard, at age nine he moved to Mattoon. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1957 having served in the Pacific. He returned to Mattoon and worked at the Wisconsin Timber and Land, which became Wisconsin Veneer and Plywood for 33 years. He retired in 1989 due to disability.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters Kathleen (Steven) Smith, Kempster, Charmaine (Mark) Schultz, Antigo; four sons Lance Maus, Oshkosh, Paul "Skinny" Maus, Kempster, Brian Maus, Green Bay, Shawn Maus, Wausau; nine grandchhildren and thirteeen great grandchildren; four brothers Theodore (Irene) Maus, Tigerton, John Maus, Rudolph, Roger (Marilyn) Maus, Mattoon, Roy Maus, Mattoon; six sisters Ruth (Kenny) Hofferman, Bowler, Shirley (Russell) Clause, Arizona, Betty (Don) Mogenson, Kiel, Judy (Mike) Thiex, Birnamwood, Janet Maus, Iola, Dorothy Jahnke, Bowler.
He was preceded in death by a child in infancy, one granddaughter, two sisters Karen Maus, Bernice Hafner, four brothers Harold, Dick, Bob and Jim Maus.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Fr. Omer Kelley officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Family Cemetery, Mattoon. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour prior to services.
