Dennis Edward Waldvogel, of Antigo, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his family after a brave battle with Leukemia. He was 71 years old. He was born on September 15, 1940 in Mattoon, a son of Edward and Lorna (Koch) Waldvogel. He married Cindy Duffy on September 18, 1971 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.
He was a 1959 graduate of Mattoon High School. For 32 years Mr. Waldvogel served in the National Guard. He was a mechanic and bus driver for Malliette Bus Company until his retirement in 2002. After retirement he drove bus for Mid Wisconsin Buses.
He was an automotive enthusiast who especially enjoyed stock car racing. He had a love for vegetable gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and making wreaths for his family and church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Chad (Amy) Waldvogel, Hartford; five grandchildren, Brooke, Sean, Kyleigh, Dillon and Brady; a brother, Franklyn (Joan) Waldvogel, Antigo; two sisters, Rosalie (Kevron) Schiro, Antigo and Gloria Pagel, Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Lorraine Duffy; sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Rodney Pagel and father-in-law, George Duffy.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum where Antigo veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 -10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

I will always remember going to your house with my mom, dad and brother so the grown-ups could play cards. Chad and I would play and try so hard to not let my little brother join us! I always enjoyed the teasing from Denny - I think that's how I learned to tease others (but always in fun)! God bless you all and you are all in my prayers.
We miss playing cards with Denny and Cindy on weekends like we always used to. We will miss you, Denny.
