Robert Samolinski, Sr, of Antigo, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Crandon Nursing Home. He was 87 years old. He was born on March 4, 1924 in the Town of Norwood, a son of John and Clara (Schisel) Samolinski. He married Violet Schmidt on September 14, 1946 in Antigo. She survives.
He was a graduate of Mattoon High School class of 1941.
He was employed at Four Wheel Drive in Clintonville and Builders Supply in Antigo. For several years he sold Minute Maid Cookware while living in Chippewa Falls and Porterfield. Mr. Samolinski returned to the town of Norwood where he operated the family dairy farm for 42 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon and a charter member of the Mattoon Hunting Club. He volunteered for the town of Norwood as an Emergency Medical Technician and fireman and served as fire chief for several years. Mr. Samolinski worked for the town of Norwood as tax assessor for 15 years.
He enjoyed polka dancing, fishing, hunting, making sausage and smoking meat.
Survivors including his wife are a daughter Nina Bostwick, Antigo; a son Robert (Brenda) Samolinski Jr, Antigo; three grandchildren Nicole (Jay) Brendemuehl, Merrill, Kristen (Nathan) Theisen, Green Bay, Robert (Patricia) Samolinski III, Antigo; two great-grandchildren Riley and Avery Brendemuehl.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon with Rev. Dean Bertsch officiating. Burial will take place in the Town of Norwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

You know I would have been there if it wouldn't have been for the weather. Believe or not I am getting to be an "old" guy. Driving is not as easy as it once was. You know what I thought of BobSr. I loved him like my own father. What a gem. People like him don't come along everyday. I always appreciate his positive attitude. How quickly time passes. who aways reached out to others. What is more they also gave their best to defend our freedoms. Your loss is our loss,but your hope is also our hope and was Bob's hope. Be assured he is resting easy in Jesus' arms. May you also in this time of your sorrow rest their also.
