David J. Sullivan, of Antigo, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Eastview Nursing Home. He was 79 years old. He was born on July 15, 1932 in Bear Creek, a son of Charles and Julia (Kostrak) Sullivan. He married Beverly Stephens on November 14, 1959 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Racine. She survives.
He was a graduate of Bear Creek High School class of 1950 and
was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany from 1954 to 1956.
He received nurses training in Racine at St. Luke Hospital for three years. In 1960 he transferred to County General Hospital in Milwaukee and in 1962 he became a Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
Mr. Sullivan worked at Eagle River Hospital for two years before moving to Antigo in 1964 where he worked at Langlade Hospital until retirement in 1986.
He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and the Msgr. Conrad Saile Knights of Columbus Council 1002 in Antigo. He volunteered serving wedding dinners at the Knights of Columbus hall. Mr. Sullivan was a 44 year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 662 in Antigo where he served as Exalted Ruler from 1970-1972 and was head of the Christmas Basket program for many years.
Survivors including his wife are a daughter Ann (Dan) Schroeder, Eau Claire; a son Douglas Sullivan, Antigo; three granddaughters Megan, Olivia and Lauren Schroeder; two brothers William (Mary Jane) Sullivan, Bear Creek, Charles (Marie) Sullivan, Greenville; three sisters-in-law - Marcedus, Mary Jane and Marie Sullivan; He is also survived by his wife's siblings Harold Stephens, Judy Tyson and Delores Weinkes, and her cousins Elaine S. Stephens and Elaine Stephens.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Elaine Gough and Alice Kosmerchock, three brothers Jack, James and Marcus Sullivan.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be 3:30 -7 p.m. on Friday and 9-10 a.m. on Saturday at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Friday all at the funeral home.
