Marie Omernik, of Deerbrook died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Langalde Hospital under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 85 years old. She was born on January 30, 1926 in West Virginia, a daughter of Boone and Dessie (Fraley) Price. She married Felix Omernik on June 6, 1942 in Bryant. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2002.
She moved to Wisconsin at age 3, and was raised in Polar. She raised her family and worked on area potato farms. In 1970 the family moved to Neenah where she worked at Industrial Towel and Uniform and Jerseal Knitting factory. She returned to Bryant in 1985, for the past five years she resided with her daughter Judy.
Mrs. Omernik was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church and the Nefswitch Card club. She enjoyed knitting, crochetting, fishing, reading and watching deer in her backyard.
Survivors include a daughter Judy (Dennis) Meyer, Deerbrook; two sons Jerry (Lee) Omernik, Seattle, WA, Jim (Mary) Omernik, Neenah; special friend Donna Ewert, Antigo; a son-in-law Steve Dean, Bonduel; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law Idell Price, Fond du Lac, Beatrice Price, Bryant, Angie Alberts, Iola; three brothers-in-law Ernest (Jean) Omernik, New London, Chet Strossin, King, Chuck Thompson.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Dean, two sisters, Gertrude Bauer and Estelle Wilson, two brothers, Art and Ray Price; four sisters-in-law, Irene Strossin, Delores Thompson, Gracie Omernik and Alice Richie; three brothers-in-law, Jerome Omernik, George Bauer, Joe Wilson.
The funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church, Neva with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home.
