James Farrell Bullis passed away on Sunday, October 30, at the age of 93. He was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on November 13, 1917, son of Clifford and Clara Bullis. Jim graduated from Eau Claire High School and attended the University of Wisconsin, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and Yale University. He owned and operated a soda bottling company in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area when he met Mae June Millenbah, who was teaching in Eau Claire. They were married on September 25, 1942, and lived in Chicago until Jim enlisted in the Air Force. He was stationed as an officer at the Royal Air Force Base outside of London during WWII where he served as an air traffic controller. In 1947, following completion of Jim's military service, the Bullis family moved to Antigo, where Jim owned and operated the Langlade Laundry & Cleaners.

Jim was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Monsignor Conrad Saile Council 1002 Knights of Columbus and Monsignor Conrad Saile Assembly 1214 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks Lodge 662, Jaycees, Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post #3, Kiwanis Club, and the Chamber of Commerce; all located in Antigo. He served on the Board of Directors and as Trust Officer of The Fidelity Bank in Antigo. He also served on the Board of Directors of Langlade County Memorial Hospital.
Jim was an excellent card player and he and Mae June played bridge in couples' bridge clubs wherever they lived - often coming in first place.

In 1982 Jim retired from The Fidelity Bank and he and Mae June took on a life of travel and relaxation, splitting their time between their home in Sun City Center, Florida, and their home in Antigo as well as traveling across North America in their RV, visiting their children and grandchildren and pursuing unknown branches of the Bullis family tree. Mae June and Jim were active members of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center and traveled with their local travel club to most of the European countries, China, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile and Peru. In 2008 Mae June and Jim relocated to Milwaukee to be closer to their children and grandchildren, where Jim was residing at the time of his death.

Jim and Mae June had six children: Jim (Mary), Jack (Marijo), Pat (Clyde) Colwell, Bob (Tina), Bill (Terri) and Peg (John) Page. They also had 17 grandchildren: Katherine (Bullis) Downing, Michael Bullis, Karen (Bullis) Beers, Susan (Bullis) Gotschewski, Stephen Bullis, David Bullis, Carrie (Janasak) Cargile, William Janasak, Christopher Janasak, Amy Bullis (Hammes), Timothy Bullis, Lindsay Bullis, Lisa Bullis (Kemp), Laura Bullis, Jamie (Page) Mason, Jessica (Page) Bennett, and Jack Page as well as 10 great-grandchildren. Jim was pre-deceased by his wife, his parents, his brother and sister, Eugene Bullis and Jeanette Russell, and his eldest son, James Clifford Bullis. His brother, George Bullis (Sun City Center, FL), survives.

Jim loved having family get-togethers and, along with Mae June, fostered a closeness which remains today across all of the Bullis generations, regardless of where they live and how frequently they are able to see each other. Jim was also very pragmatic and was fond of fixing and "creating" things. There never seemed to be anything he couldn't fix and he would always ask for "his list of jobs" when visiting his children's homes. Jim was a modest and a positive person who always expressed how much he had been blessed in life.
Services for James Farrell Bullis will be held on Saturday, November 5 and include a visitation at Bradley Funeral Home in Antigo from 9-10 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating. The celebration of Jim's life will conclude with a committal service in Queen of Peace Mausoleum in Antigo where military rites will be conducted by Antigo veterans.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in Jim's memory.
