Max Lavere Morehouse, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2024. Max was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a friend to so many. Most importantly, Max was a faithful servant of Jesus during his time on this earth. He loved so many fearlessly and wonderfully throughout his long and blessed life.

He was the son of Lavere and Ruth (Wilsen) Morehouse and a lifelong resident of the State of Wisconsin, a state whose natural beauty he deeply loved and revered.

Max was a devoted and loving husband to Ramona Morehouse for 46 years. Max was a kind, loving father and a mentor to his two sons, Terry (Rachel) Morehouse of South Beloit Illinois, Dale (Karen) Morehouse of Weston, Wisconsin, two step-daughters, Betsy (Daryl) Cross Griswold of Highlands, North Carolina, Mary Alice (Cross) Fleming of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Michelle) Morehouse, Easton Morehouse, Grant Morehouse, Drew Morehouse, Cole Morehouse, Ahna Fleming, Micheal Cross, and Elizabeth Cross; two great-grandchildren, Quentin Morehouse and Aleha Morehouse; a daughter-in-law, Kelly Cross-Ewing of Winston Salem, North Carolina, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends too numerous to count.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Morehouse, and his stepson, Michael S. Cross.

Max was a graduate of Antigo High School and received his bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Max had several successful and rewarding careers. First as a manager for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources where he was able to combine his love and care for God's beautiful earth with his great love of hunting and fishing. He then went on to serve as the National Sales Manager for Sheldon's Inc. in Antigo for many years where he traveled nationwide and was sought after for his expertise in fishing and sport.

Max's greatest accomplishment during his life was his selfless heart and service to others and his passion to tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ. Those who knew Max will know, with certainty, that on the evening of April 22, he was met by Jesus who said "Well done my good and faithful servant."

Please join us to celebrate Max's life.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 26, at 12 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home, 1550 Neva Road, Antigo, Wisconsin, WI 54409. The Rev. Shane Wheeler will officiate.

So sorry to hear that Dad Max has passed on to that House Not Made with Human Hands, Eternal in the Heavens. I still remember the service he lent to us DeMolay boys in Antigo. When it came to basketball: play fair, and play hard. Dad Max lead us by example to become decent young men. He will be missed.
