Matthew Zahringer, of Antigo, died unexpectedly on April 12, 2024 at his home. He was 42 years old. He was born on February 18, 1982 in Highland Park, IL, a son of Laurie (Herman) Tackett of Elton and James Zahringer of Gresham.

From the age of 12 to 18 Matt was a caddy at a golf course in Highland Park where his grandfather and uncles also worked as young men. He graduated from Stevenson High School in Buffalo Grove, IL and then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for Computer Science. Following the events of 9/11 Matt gave up a scholarship and moved to Antigo to be closer to family. He then attended North Central Technical College and Nicolet Technical College for Criminal Justice.

Shortly after moving he met Jacilyn Augustyn and they were married on June 5, 2004 at Faith Center in Antigo.

For nearly 18 years Matt has been employed at Amron in Antigo. He was a proud and loving husband and father. He enjoyed playing tabletop games with his wife, kids, and other family members. He loved being able to teach his sons and pass on his love of gaming to them.

In addition to his parents, Matt will be deeply missed by his wife, Jacilyn; seven children, Benjamin, Jacob, Timothy, Micah, Ian, Adeline and baby boy Zahringer expected in June; three sisters, Sarah (Paul) Bostwick of Antigo, Angelica (Bob) Meydam of Birnamwood, and Hannah (Chet) Tackett of Antigo; and special uncle and aunt, Donald and Paulette Colo of Illinois. He is also survived by many additional aunts and uncles, step-siblings, cousins, father and mother-in-law; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at Homestead Church with Rev. Dustin Deike officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery, Antigo.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home and Friday, April 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Homestead Church

We are Heartbroken at the terrible loss of Matt💔. As Matt’s Aunt & son Chris’ best bud during his formative years in IL, we shared SO many adventures! Camping (Devil’s Lake was our FAV), visiting zoos, taking in museums & exhibits, catching a movie, gaming with “Chris’ Crew” and just enjoying life all together❣️Matt leaves behind a beautiful legacy with his precious family. Matt, I’m hoping you are enjoying the reunion with Grandma & Grandpa Colo, Pops (Joe Minorini) and all Family members eagerly awaiting your presence🤗. Love you Forever, Auntie Pat Macon
