Rodney Cash Van Alstine, of Post Lake, died on October 31, 2023 surrounded by family. He was 77 years old. He was born on August 3, 1946 in Appleton, a son of Cassius and Jean (Fennel) Van Alstine.
Rod served in the United States Army Reserves for 7 years.
He retired in 2016 after working with his wife, Carol at their Van Alstine American Family Insurance Agency in Antigo for 30 years.
Rod was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons and a Shriner with Lodge 242 in Rhinelander.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carol; a son, Wade (Jen) Van Alstine of Kimberly; five grandchildren, Drew and Dylan Van Alstine, Kayla (Ashley) Cooley, and Tyler Cooley; nephew, Brad (Tonya) and their kids; nieces, Kimber (Ed) and their kids, and Bug (Mike) and their kids; as well as many other loved family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Bonnie Kasseckert.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of gifts and flowers, a donation can be made to Langlade County Humane Society in memory of Rod's precious dogs that preceded him in death.
