Jason Marckx of Antigo, found his peaceful home on October 6, 2023 after years of suffering with depression, a despicable illness, grossly misunderstood. Jason was born on February 10, 1973 in Antigo, a son of Patricia Tomski and David Marckx.

Jason was a graduate of Antigo High School and continued his education at North Central Technical College and Milwaukee School of Engineering; then working at TSI as an Electrical Engineer in Research and Development.

Jason had a fascination at a very young age on how and why mechanical things work and move. At age 4, sitting on Santa's lap, he asked for a fan for Christmas. Santa looked at Mom and Dad--that's right, a fan. Just recently Jason said he was born to be an engineer. Jason participated in hockey from age 6 in the Antigo Area Youth Hockey program through high school. Some of his best days were spent in Post Lake with great friends and family. He loved spending time with Grandpa and Grandma Tomski and Grandpa Marckx. Jason was a humane hunter with respect for all of nature. As a lover of animals, he shared his home with dogs, cats and reptiles, and in the past very involved with the Langlade County Humane Society. As a child, he loved riding his little red tractor up and down the sidewalk which led to a love of motorcycles and also took his red Corvette to Road America to put his driving skills to test. Jason's mind was also full of ways to redesign something or make something completely different from any materials available. Jason's last hope for the future had been to tutor children, to empower them and to share is love of science, technology, engineering and math.

He is survived by his mother, Pat Tomski of Antigo; father, Dave (Bonnie) Marckx of Palmetto, FL; a brother, Nathan Marckx of Antigo; niece and nephew, Saveah and Hayden Marckx; step-siblings, Brandon (Sheila) Michels, Justin (Megan) Michels and Amanda (Lennie) Miglieri; paternal aunts, Debi Marckx and Gayle Marckx; maternal aunts, Lisa Duernberger, and Julie (Mark) Beda; maternal uncles, David (Peggy) Tomski and Brian (Jacque) Tomski; cousins, Jessy (Sarah) Evanson, Ashley (Curtis) Stoddard, Shawna Donahue, Tanya (Robert) Manhart, Jeremy (Nancy) Irish, Cara Tomski, Kate (Joe) Manhart, Holly Grimm, Jon (Olia) Tomski, Chris (Cassi) Tomski, Nick Duernberger, Victoria Beda and Steven Beda.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Florian and Erna Tomski, John and Rita Marckx; aunts and uncles, Carolyn Tomski, Regan Duernberger, Matt Donahue; and infant cousin, Sarah Tomski.

Jason is loved and missed by many but we are thankful there is serenity.

Pat, Dave, and family, all of you have my deepest sympathy, love, and prayers. I was honored and blessed to work with Jason. He was such a sweet, interesting, hardworking, loving, smart, curious, and kind man. When I was there we would talk often. Sometimes me asking the questions and sometimes him asking. Not just about work, but life and family also. Pat he would brag up your cooking and wow was he right when he brought in Christmas treats. Dave he absolutely loved going on those trips and scuba diving. He even came in one time because I asked to see his scuba suit and he actually had it all on, snorkel and all.I love that memory and will treasure it. He also brought me and others shells back. I still have mine. He would show me the videos and pics of his scuba trips and tell me of his adventures. He would Crack me up at times at work and make me laugh when he would bring in Sardines and crackers for lunch at times. I would say yuck and he would say good and try to get me to try one. I told him I swore he was a little old man in a young body the way he acted, and ate. He made me laugh with some of his stories and things he would say. And he definitely laughed at mine and what I would say about life, my kids, and hubby. He had a beautiful contagious smile and laugh. Jason will be deeply missed, and pray he is at peace now. My heartfelt thoughts, prayers, and love go out to all the family. Jason was one of a kind and know he was loved by many.

In high school, tenth grade, remember sharing the same teacher, but not the same class period with Jason. So we sat in the same desk. I remember he started it. We would write down Pink Floyd lyrics and the other would have to come up with the next line. I don’t remember either of us missing a beat. We always new the line. I will miss you my best friend. Be at peace. I love you.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jason. We know all too well what you’re going through. May you find light in your darkness and comfort in your memories. This Bible verse recorded in Psalms 46:1 is something we need to remember when facing a tragedy. It reads “ God is our refuge and strength, a help that is readily found in times of distress “. May God Jehovah give strength and his love to each of you.
