Louis Peter Guenther, of Antigo, died on August 23, 2023 at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 98 years old. He was born on June 27, 1925 in Town of Harrison, a son of Anton and Anna (Manser) Guenther. He married Dorothy Pregler on August 9, 1950 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo.
Mr. Guenther took over his father's dairy farm for a short time before starting his career as a Mason with Local Union 3. He participated in the construction of the Antigo Radar Base and the Antigo Elementary Schools. He also worked on schools in Door County and in Minnesota. He was part of the building of a tunnel under the Fox River in Green Bay in addition to many new homes.
Louie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy; many nieces and nephews including, Karen (Steve) Widder; and his God-daughter, Donna (Corey) Smith of Antigo and their children, Alec, Brock, Collin, Paige, and Zoey.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Emma Muraski, Mary Milbrath, Clara Demitz, and Rose Pearson; and a brother, George Guenther.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 28, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday at the church in Hoffmann Hall from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
