Joseph Wayne Schmelter, of Wausau, died on August 15, 2023. He was 66 years old. He was born on August 16, 1956 in Antigo, a son of Dale and Lavonne (Guiles) Schmelter.
Survivors include his sister, Arlene Danielson of Brookfield; and his brother, Gary (Maria) Schmelter of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale Schmelter, Jr.
Burial will take place in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Mattoon.
