Jeanine M. McMeekin, of Antigo, entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Evergreen Terrace under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 94 years old. She was born July 18, 1929, in Antigo, a daughter of Park and Lauretta (Friedl) McMeekin.
Jeanine attended St. John Catholic Grade School and graduated from Antigo High School in 1947.
She attended the College of St. Teresa in Winona, Minn. for one year and graduated from the Sacred Heart Dominican College in Houston, Texas with a Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics.
She worked as an Assistant Dietician for six years at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Houston, then as a caretaker in an orphanage in New Jersey for two years. She also worked as a driver and clerical assistant for the Mission Convent in Middleton, N.J. for six years.
After she returned to Antigo, Jeanine worked for 20 years at the Langlade Memorial Hospital in the pharmacy, business, and admitting offices until her retirement. She also had the position of Curator at the local museum for three years.
Jeanine was a long-time member of the Franciscan 3rd Order Secular and a vowed member of the Missionary Order of Franciscans.
She is survived by two nieces, Gretchen (Loras) Haws of Kilkenny, Minn. and Jennifer (Ron) Kaiser of Linton, North Dakota; a nephew, Christopher Mahowald of Mankato, Minn.; two special friends, Eleanor Hoerman and Tina Theisen, both of Antigo; many great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia (LeRoy) Mahowald, and a nephew, Matthew Mahowald.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in Hoffmann Hall at church.

Jeanine was a wonderful person, we enjoyed her time here at the Historical Society, she loved volunteering here and talking to people about the history of Antigo. We missed her when she decided to stop volunteering. Prayers to the family.
