A Ardelle (Howe) Van Hecke on Apr 6, 2022

Dear Family of Aunt Goldie, from your cousin Ardelle (Howe). What a great lady 💗 I took your Uncle Floyd and Aunt Juliaetta (Jetta) to see Aunt Goldie at her home at, I believe, Summit Lake, in about 2005. My Dad was experiencing some dementia at the time, and wasn’t quite sure who Aunt Goldie was. She “scolded” him and said something like! “Well Floyd, you old stinker, I’m your sister, Goldie! You helped us build this place!” He stepped back, looked at her face for what seemed like an eternity, tho it was only a minute or two … the “light” came to his eyes, along with tears, and he he reached out to hug her, saying, “Goldie! Where have you been?” A sister’s voice broke through the fog and went straight to the heart. I believe one of her grand daughters was there that day, but not sure who it was. My memories of visiting go back to when most of us cousins were little kids. We so enjoyed the visit that day; she gifted me with some yarn from her “crochet stash” becos I’m also a crocheter. And seeing the quilts she made … wow! Works of art! 💗 And so, with love and blessings to all of you, on behalf of the remaining member of The Floyd Howe Family, I’ll close this little Memory Jog. May God Bless and keep you and give you comfort and peace. Love and Blessings … Ardelle (Ardy) Howe
