Jerome Kamps, of Antigo, died Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 96 years old. He was born on September 27, 1925, in Phlox, a son of Walter and Christine (Hayek) Kamps. He married Jeanette Gross on October 21, 1950.
He went through eighth grade and then worked on the family farm. Mr. Kamps was employed at the Langlade County Highway Department for 40 years retiring in 1987.
Jerome was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, having served on the Board of Trustees and on the Finance Committee.
He enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Jeanette; daughter, Sandra (Bill) Zimmerman of Antigo; son, Gary (Debbie) Kamps of Antigo; four grandchildren, Adam (Laurie) Zimmerman, Becky (Kevin) Stank, Christopher Kamps, and Casey (Jessica) Kamps; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alex, Elli, Breelyn, Kiara, Zak, Zander, and Braxton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Clarence "Sam"; and a sister, Audrey Chrudimsky.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Reverend David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Jerome was always happy man always smile on his face. He was so happy when he moved downstairs on the first floor so he could walk out the door on to his patio.
The friends of Pine Meadows will miss him ! Rest In Peace he with God.
