Gerald Doucette, of Antigo, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Langlade Hospital. He was 82 years old. He was born on April 23, 1929 in Antigo, a son of Glen and Mae (Now) Doucette. He married Betty Cernoch on August 21, 1948 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.

He was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1947.

Mr. Doucette had a long career with City Gas Company in Antigo, and later Master Gas Company where he retired as president in 1990.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He played baseball for the Antigo Candies and in the County League. He played banjo and harmonica with the Rythm Airs Band and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Survivors including his wife are 11 daughters Dianne (Tom) Rasmussen, Wausau, Gail Piela, Bryant, Karen (Joel) Carley, Antigo, Carol (John) Stanton, Wausau, Sherry (Dave) Sims, Parker, Colorado, Colleen (Dan) Rossmanith, Green Bay, Sue (Tom) Boers, Antigo, Barb (Jim) Payant, Antigo, Julie (Cliff) Bastle, Antigo, Cathy (Steve) Peterson, Sheboygan, Lynn Kapusta, Antigo;

five sons Dave Doucette, Antigo, Ken (Lynne) Doucette, Antigo, Ron (Deb) Doucette, Wausau, Dennis (Sue) Doucette, Burnsville, MN, Pete Doucette, Schofield;

five sisters Marlene Shebuski, Antigo, Beverly Edgeton, Hoyt Lakes, MN, Judy (Bob) Warren, Antigo, Faye (Donny) Fleischman, Antigo, Jane Hoerman, Antigo;

five brothers Maurice Doucette, Winchester, Loren (Peg) Doucette, Antigo, Pat (Emily) Doucette, Antigo, Dale (Michelle) Doucette, Antigo, Doug (Carolyn) Doucette, Antigo;

36 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Also survived by his wife's family: Dorothy (Forest) Bartz, Antigo, Marion Yingling, Milwaukee, Winnie (Aggie) Cernoch, Antigo.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Doucette, a sister, Vergil (Bob) Gerlack, a son-in-law, John Piela, a sister-in-law, Shirley Doucette, three brothers-in-law, Bill Shebuski, Jim Edgeton, and Jerry Hoerman; five brothers-in-law on his wife's side Norvel, Merton and James Cernoch, Bob (Marie) Cernoch, Dale (Jinny) Cernoch.

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday all at Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.
