Mary Palok, of Antigo, died on January 20, 2022, at Rosalia Gardens. She was 71 years old. She was born on December 4, 1950, in Antigo, a daughter of John and Thelma (Tomlin) Stewart. She married Eugene Palok in August of 1983 in Antigo. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2001.
She was a graduate of Elcho High School in 1969.
After high school, she worked at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Boy Scout Camp in Pearson and worked at the Weinbrenner Shoe Company factory in Antigo.
The family moved to Milwaukee in 1982 and Mary worked at the State Bank of Hales Corners and K-Mart in Hales Corners.
Returning to Antigo in 1999 she began working at CoVantage Credit Union as a teller. She retired from Fleet Farm in 2016.
A lover of animals, she also enjoyed fishing, gardening, crafting, crocheting, bike rides, and long walks. She was an avid Packer, Brewer, and Badger fan, and followed Rusty Wallace in NASCAR. Most of all she loved being around others and sharing her smile.
She is the author of several poems and short stories.
Survivors include a son, Tim (Liz) Stewart, St. Cloud, Minnesota; two step-grandchildren, Nicole (Ken) Kolbow, Kara (Chad) Siboda, and their father Bill Hess;
six brothers, Donald Stewart, Sr. of West Allis, James (Julie) Stewart of Antigo, Richard Stewart of Merrill, Dale (Gail) Stewart of Crandon, Larry Stewart (Debbie Kramer) of Antigo, Roger (Grace) Stewart of Cambridge, Maryland; two sisters, Nancy (Dan) Hall of Merrill, Anne Stewart of Antigo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Kym Hess, two brothers, David and Robert Stewart; a sister, Jean Prince-Lipinski.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 29 at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Pyeatt officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, January 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
