Raymond Hartleben, of Antigo, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 91 years old. He was born on June 15, 1929, in Wittenberg, a son of Walter and Lillian (Kunzak) Hartleben. He married Theresa Pictrucha on July 25, 1970.
He was a graduate of Wittenberg High School. A United States Army veteran, Raymond was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska as a cryptologist with the Company C, 36th Armored Infantry, 3rd Division. Following his time in the service, Raymond lived in Illinois and worked for Marshall Field & Company as a delivery driver.
He returned to Wittenberg and later moved to Antigo. Raymond was a milk tester for Dairy Herd Improvement for many years. He also served as the Wittenberg Village Board President for 8 years.
Raymond enjoyed volunteering, which included reading to veterans and assisting individuals to their appointments. He loved nature and camping and was a supporter of the Mountain Bay Trail going through Wittenberg.
Survivors include his wife Theresa of Antigo; two daughters, Darlene (James Jr.) Shier of Morton Grove, IL, and Wendy (Allen) Gast of Loyal; grandsons, Caleb and Bryce Gast; and a sister, Loraine Iverson of Bend, OR.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Hartleben; and two brothers, Orville and Wayne.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery in the Town of Almon.
Raymond was always a generous and loving cousin. He will be missed.
