William John "Bill" Deacy, a lifelong resident of Antigo, died Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital after fighting a courageous battle against Covid-19. He was 79 years old. He was born on March 7, 1941, in Antigo, a son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Turney) Deacy.

He attended St. Hyacinth Grade School graduating from 8th grade in 1955. He was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1959. While in High School Bill met his sweetheart and future wife Jane Bissonette Berndt, and they were married on September 30, 1961. They were looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage with a trip to Las Vegas.

Bill had a long career with General Telephone as a cable splicer, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church.

In retirement, he enjoyed his home and yard. He was happiest with remodeling projects and when working on his lawn. The grass was always beautifully mowed and the flowers well cared for.

Bill's favorite pass time was meeting with friends at Boettcher's Bar at 7 a.m. for coffee and good conversation.

Survivors include three sons, Patrick (Lisa) Deacy of Independence, MO, Michael (Lisa) Deacy of Hudson and John (Billie Jo) Deacy of Wittenberg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Geringer of Black Earth and sister-in-law, Rosemary Deacy of Deerbrook. Bill and Jane also have two dachshunds that are like family, Lucy and Ethel.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Deacy; and brother-in-law, Wesley Geringer.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to SS Mary & Hyacinth. Catholic Church, 819 3rd Ave. Antigo, WI 54409

Jane, So sorry to hear about your loss. Praying for you and your family. Haven't seen much of each other since we retired, but you were always a gracious and special person. Hope you find peace that you will both be together again someday in a much better place. God bless. Your former manager, Tom B.
