Dorothea "Dot" Schuh, of Elcho, died Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. She was 103 years old. She was born on September 21, 1907 in Marshfield a daughter of Reinhold and Amanda (Bartmann) Henrichs. She married Maynard "Ding" Schuh on September 21, 1924 in Marshfield. He preceded her in death in 1972.

After graduating from Purdy High School in Marshfield she moved to Elcho to work at the Musky Inn. She became a cook at the Schackelford's Logging Camp after marriage. She lived on the Dorr farm before moving out to Enterprise Lake Road where she was a homemaker and worked at various places in Elcho. In 1937 her and her husband bought Schuh's Tavern, which she operated while her husband worked on the Alcan Highway and in Logging Camps. In 1951 they sold the tavern and in 1960 they bought the grocery store and resort on Post Lake. After her husband's death she sold the resort and retired to Elcho.

Mrs. Schuh was member of United Church of Christ, Congregational, Elcho where she was very active in the Women's Fellowship. She was an honorary life member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Auxiliary Unit #377, Elcho.

She was known for her beautiful handmade quilts, which she made and gave to everyone in her family.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Marie) Schuh, Elcho; three granddaughters, Janet Elizabeth Schuh, Charleston, SC, Debbie Diane Major, CA and Margene Marie (Wayne) Wagler, Rhinelander; three grandsons, Dana Richard (Elaine) Brown, Austin, TX, Daniel Leland (Marcella) Brown, Montgomery, IL and Richard Paul Schuh, II, King; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Henrichs, Edward Henrichs and Clayton Henrichs and five sisters, Marie Carruthers, Helen Hornby, Joyce Boomer, June Henrichs and Evelyn Nelson.

A memorial services will be held Saturday, June 4 at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ, Congregational, Elcho. Rev. Jack LaMar will be officiating. The ceremony will include a memorial service conducted by members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 377. Interment will take place in the Elcho Cemetery. Visitation will take place Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
