Eugene W. Wagner, of Deerbrook, died Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Homme Home in Wittenberg. He was 97 years old. He was born on May 13, 1921, in Antigo, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Friedl) Wagner. He married Dorothy Mayo on July 6, 1945, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2013.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School and was a mechanic at Aulik Implement for most of his career.
He was known as an excellent tractor mechanic who kept many potato farms up and running, even long after his retirement. Eugene stayed busy his entire life fixing things, mowing grass and plowing snow. He enjoyed a lifetime of dogs and horses.
Survivors include two sons, William (Mary) Wagner of Mosinee and John Wagner of Deerbrook; two grandchildren, Nicholas (special friend Judy Welch) Wagner of Birnamwood and Steve Wagner of Mosinee; and two special girls that made him smile, Lydia and Paige Welch.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Eugene's life will be held on Monday, September 10 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Kempster Cemetery.
You have my deepest condolences in your loss of Eugene. He sounded like a truly hard-working enthusiastic man. No matter how long we live , life is never long enough. Our loving Heavenly Father Jehovah will reunite you soon in the promised Resurrection. You may find that promise in the Bible book at Revelation chapter 21 verses 3 and 4.
