Gerald Wissbroecker, of Pickerel, passed away Friday, July 20, 2018. He was 75 years old. He was born on March 29, 1943, at home on the family farm in Post Lake a son of Herman and Jeannette (Powell) Wissbroecker.

As a teenager Jerry played in the Langlade county baseball leagues.
He graduated from Antigo High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point where he graduated in 1966 with a mathematics degree.

After college, Jerry relocated to Milwaukee, where he worked at Northwestern Mutual Life (NML)in the information systems department for 37 years. He was a member of the NML bowling league, softball team, trail-runners and fishing clubs. Jerry retired in 2003.

In 2005, he and his wife moved back to Pickerel. He spent the last 12 years doing what he loved, fishing on his boat in the summer, deer hunting in the fall, and sitting on the deck with coffee and his beloved dogs, soaking up the sun and enjoying the view of the lawn he ensured was so meticulously maintained.

An avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed hunting and fishing taking trips to Colorado to elk hunt and Canada to fish.

Jerry is survived by his wife Linda, four children Lisa (Jeremy) Koller of Port Washington, Steve (Amy) Wissbroecker of Racine; Amanda Bennett of Oak Creek, Jena (Lee) Jastrow of Oak Creek; seven grandchildren Dawn (Derrick), Brittney, Jessica (Manuel), Courtney, Justin, Johanna, Reese; four great-grandchildren Parker, Mackenzi, Addasyn, Kamryn;

six sisters, Marlene (Keith) Priem of Lily, Jeanne (Dennis) Dunham of Mosinee, Betty Kizirian of Rhinelander, Linda (Leon) Buck of Aniwa, Nancy (Al) Partlo of Bloomer, Vera (Todd) Visser of Elcho;

five brothers, Alan (Linda) Wissbroecker of Summit Lake, Roland (Tonya) Wissbroecker of Elcho, Hermy (Patty) Wissbroecker of Pickerel, Dale (Paula) Wissbroecker of Bloomer, Boyd (Trish) Wissbroecker of Owatonna, Minnesota.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Arbutus Lutheran Church in Pearson. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. with a casual service to follow at noon led by Vicor Pam Werth, DM.

As a paraplegic for 25 years, Jerry was an avid supporter of the spinal cord injury community. Memorials in his memory can be made to the National Spinal Cord Injury Association - Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter. (www.spinalcordwi.org)
