Joyce Matthews, of Antigo, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 91 years old. She was born on March 1, 1927, in Antigo, a daughter of Harvey and Alice (Walker) McKinney. She married Richard "Sully" Kruger, the couple later divorced. On December 23, 1968, she married Edward Matthews at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2006.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1945.
Joyce was employed at Langlade Memorial Hospital for 25 years as a nurses aid, retiring in 1995.
She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, watching Antigo hockey games and following the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include a son, Dennis (Joanne) Kruger, Antigo; daughter, Jeanne (Ronald) Broxson, Holley, Florida; five grandchildren, Roxanne (Jim) Spencer, Antigo, Suzanne (Mark) Lenaker, Lakeville, Minnesota, Cheyanne Schoemer and Dylan, Prior Lake, Minnesota, Cody Broxson, Holley, Florida, Allie Pearson, Holley, Florida; ten great-grandchildren Brennen, Madeline, Caitlin, Alexa, Cassidy, Josephine, Barrett, Sophia, Molle and Jase.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, a grandchild, Timothy Bailey, four brothers, Clarence in WWII, William, Vernon and Eugene Mckinney.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Weber officiating. Burial will take place in Antigo Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Dear Denny, Jeanne and Families
I Just heard of your Mothers passing this morning. I was trying to call her and found out that her phone was not in working order and didn’t follow thru. In trying to locate oneof you right away. I am so sorry. My deepest sympathy goes out to you.
Thanks Jeanne for bringing her up for our anniversary party. My brother Bob and I were down to see her last year and did look forward to a visit again this summer.
