Dan Quartaro, of Lakewood, died Monday, July 2, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 71 years old. He was born on February 3, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York a son of the late Anthony and Elsie (Johnson) Quartaro. He married Kathryn Murray on January 21, 1967, at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church, Zion, Ill. She preceded him in death on August 23, 2017.
He graduated from Commack High School in 1965.
Dan served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. Following his military service, he was a police officer for Nassau County in New York for 21 years. In 1991 he retired and moved to Lakewood.
He was a member of the Wabeno American Legion Sylvan Post 44.
Dan enjoyed flying drones, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Angela (James) Jordan of Galax, Virginia and Lisa Kremer of Medford, New York; a son, Frank (Lyn) Quartaro of Antigo; 10 grandchildren; sister, Janet (Rich) Stubefield of FL; brother, John (Georgia) Quartaro of Canada; brother-in-law, Michael (Eilene) Murray of White Lake; and a sister-in-law, Melinda (Jon) Racine of Duluth, Minnesota.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Quartaro.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 4 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Wes Jedras officiating. A private burial will take place in St. James Catholic Cemetery in White Lake. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 4 pm at the funeral home.
