Theresa Welch, of Phlox, died on Wednesday, April 25 2018, at her home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 95 years old. She was born on November 8, 1922, in Phlox, a daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Heinzen) Koeppel. She married Floyd Welch on July 1, 1944, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2016.

She attended St. Joseph Grade School.

Theresa worked at Line Material on the assembly line in South Milwaukee for one year.

She was a proud and devoted wife, mother and homemaker who with her husband operated a dairy farm in the town of Hutchins for 42 years.

Mrs. Welch was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church in Phlox, their Christian Mother's Society, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Devine-Menting American Legion Auxiliary Unit 525. She was a 4-H leader for the Phlox Flames for 22 years and served on the Langlade County 4-H Awards Committee.

She loved making quilts and sewing. She also enjoyed gardening and farming.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary (Eugene "Blue") Rogatzki of Deerbrook, Susan (Larry) Waldvogel of Phlox, and Carolyn (Joseph) Metko of Phlox; four sons, Lawrence (Shirlee) Welch of Antigo, Edward (Ruth) Welch of Merrill, John Welch of Shawano and Andrew (Michelle) Welch of Bowler; 32 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Koeppel of Wausau; and three sisters-in-law, Elaine Koeppel of South Milwaukee, Imelda Artz of Antigo and Emily Welch of Milwaukee.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by three sons, Daniel, Thomas and Walter;
six brothers, Oscar (Audrey), Vernon, Alphonse (Emma), Clarence (Marie), Martin (Rosemary) and Edward; two sisters, Frances (Melvin) Wilhelm and Adeline (Chester) Kowalski; five sisters-in-law, Shirley Koeppel, Ethel (Victor) Baskerville, Mildred (Joseph) Marx, Dorothy (Raymond) Marx and Eleanor Welch in infancy; and three brothers-in-law, Jerome Artz, Norman and Robert Welch.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday April 30, 2018, at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. David Schmidt and Deacon Tony Debroux officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

A parish wake service will be held at 6 p.m. and the visitation will conclude with reciting of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
