Nettie Nicholson, of Antigo, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 94 years old. She was born on January 10, 1916 in McClusky, North Dakota a daughter of the late Anton and Dora (Reynolds) Evenson. She married Levi Nicholson on March 20, 1937 at Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death in April 1977.

As a child she moved to the Town of Schley in Lincoln County. In 1934 she graduated from Merrill High School then attended Lincoln County Normal School where she graduated in 1936.

She taught school at Miller grade school in Lincoln County, Forest View and Good Luck grade schools in Langlade County. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in the town of Vilas from 1938 until retirement in 1975. Mrs. Nicholson lived at Pelican Lake for several years then moved to Antigo in 1977. She worked at Langlade Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nurses Assistant until the age of 79.

She was an accomplished violinist and played in the high school orchestra. Mrs. Nicholson was a 4-H leader, a member of the Lincoln and Langlade County Retired Educators Association, Luther Memorial Church in Gleason and the ladies aid, Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo and the Vilas Women's Club.

She enjoyed fishing for brook trout, Sunday's at the baseball games, and attending the many activities of her children and grandchilren. She looked forward to Fourth of July reunions, time spent at her Musky Bay lake home, snowmobiling, Lutefisk dinners and Fuddfest.

Survivors include a daughter Fran (Joel) Heckendorf of Merrill; three sons Jim (Liz) Nicholson, Madison, Nels Nicholson, Antigo, Dell Fudd (Brenda) Nicholson, Antigo; 23 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law - Bev Nicholson, Merrill; a sister-in-law Evelyn Ambercombie, Washington;

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son and daughter in law Daniel (Cecile) Nicholson, two brothers Hank and Bill Evenson, three sisters Tress Paulson, Myrt Stern and Zona Evenson; two half brothers and three half sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Monday from 10 until the time of services at the church. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Forest View cemetery.
