Roy Thompson, longtime town of Antigo resident died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 95 years old. He was born on June 4, 1915 in Antigo, a son of Paul and Mary (Brandt) Thompson. He married Betty Pence on July 26, 1941 at Hattisburg, Mississippi. She survives.

He attended Chamberlan Grade School in the town of Antigo, and served in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II with the 135th Medical Regiment. Mr. Thompson owned and operated a cattle farm in the Town of Antigo for many years. He was a member the Triple R Riding Club, Faith United Church of Christ in Antigo their Men's Brotherhood, and The Leland-Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2653 in Antigo. He enjoyed attending auctions and had a keen sense for the value of the items being sold.

Survivors including his wife are one daughter Kay (Milton) Olson, Wausau, a son Judd (Sharon) Thompson, Seymour, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Thompson.

Services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home Antigo, with Rev. Ray Connor officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery where the Antigo Veterans will conduct military rites. Visitation will be noon until the time of services on Monday at the Bradley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association in Mr. Thompson's name.
