Marie Bahr, of the town of Ackley, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at her home. She was 89 years old. She was born on March 15, 1921 in Antigo to John and Rose (Herrmann) Leitermann. She married Jack Bahr on May 26, 1941 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on December 6, 1995.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School in 1938.
Mrs. Bahr and her husband farmed in the town of Ackley. She enjoyed gardening, making crafts and baking. She will long be remembered for her quilting skills, having made many for family and friends. She was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church, its Rosary Society and the Suburban Homemakers Club. She enjoyed attending the Body Recall excersize classes and participated in the Special Friends program.
Survivors include two daughters Monica (Florian) Baginski, Antigo, Emily Bahr, Madison; two sons Robert (Denise) Bahr, Columbus, Alan (Pam) Bahr, Bryant; nine grandchildren and one step grandchild; eight great grandchildren; a sister Rita Binversie of St. Nazianz; two brothers Norbert Leitermann, Little Chute, Norman (Mary) Leitermann, Kimberly.
Including her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Sr. Mary Luke and Sr. Conradine Leitermann; four brothers, Harvey, Fr. Luke, Herbert and John Leitermann.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Michael E. Betley and officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home with a Rosary Society wake service at 4:00 p.m. and a parish wake service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral Home.
