Roy Jack Nelson, of Antigo, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. He was 91 years old. He was born on September 6, 1918 in Oshkosh, to Arthur and Meta Nelson. He married Harriet Bunda on October 24, 1954 in Rockford, IL. She preceded him in death on December 15, 2002.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and flew B-24 heavy bombers. Mr. Nelson worked for Teletype Corporation as quality control manager in Chicago retiring in 1974. He lived in Mexico and Canada until moving to Antigo in 1982. He was a proud gun collector and took pride in reloading his own ammunition.
Survivors include a nephew and a niece, Jim (Lori) Nelson, Mary Thiry, great-nieces and nephews Heather (Scott) DeGrave, Eric (Emily) Nelson, Jim, Michelle and Scott, and several great great-nieces and nephews including Brooke Dulin, Christian and Jack DeGrave and Ella Nelson.
In addition to his parents and wife Harriet, he was preceded in death by a brother Victor (Georgia) Nelson and a sister Mae (Sam) Liebensen.
Services will be held on Thursday March 11, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Strong officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home.
