Catherine Strnad, of Antigo, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at her home under the care of her sister Margaret and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 90 years old. She was born on August 21, 1919 in Antigo, to Frank and Barbara (Wahleithner) Baxter. She married James Strnad on Oct. 26, 1946 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Antigo as a teenager. After marriage she lived in Fargo, Noth Dakota for 20 years where she worked as a receptionist at a music conservatory. She retired to Michigan for several years before returning to Antigo in 1983. She is a member of St. John Catholic Church and enjoyed painting outdoor scenes and growing flowers.

Survivors include two sisters Margaret Baxter, Antigo and Agnes Strnad, Grand Rapids, Mich;

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Baxter.

Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Friday at the church. Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
