John Miller, of Antigo, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center. He was 89 years old. Born July 22, 1919 in Antigo to the late Raymond and Ida (Fank)Miller. He married Johanna Baumler on February 17, 1940 in Appleton. She survives.

John was raised in White Lake where he graduated High School in 1936. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1945. He started his career at Fox River Paper Company in Appleton, followed by 30 years at Spencer Johnston Company of Appleton, retiring in 1981. During his working career, John was a key government witness at the tax evasion trial of Rev. Sun Myung Moon, using his expertise in watermarking to provide the proof needed for a conviction. John and his wife moved to Rollingstone Lake for 12 years before returning to Antigo in 1993. He was active in the Rollingstone Lake Association for many years. He was a member of St. Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church.

Survivors including his wife are one daughter, Suzan (Henry) Smith Gresham; seven sons, LeRoy Miller Jersey Shore, Penn., Ron (Carol) Miller Appleton, Robert (Irma) Miller Appleton, Jack (Cathy) Miller Greenville, Jim (LaVerne) Miller Appleton, Ray (Kathie) Miller Hortonville, Tom (Laureen) Miller Greenville; 22 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Janet Miller Neenah, Marion Midge Miller Shawano; one brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Baumler Appleton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Maxine Stoffel and Olive Kluba, and two brothers Robert and James Miller, two great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Betley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home from noon to 1:00 p.m.
