Delbert R. Cross age 91 of Summit Lake died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Eastview Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Antigo, WI
Del was born December 18, 1915 in Rosendale, WI to the late Charles and Nora (Nelson) Cross. On September 26, 1941 he married Evelyn VanOver in Hammond, Indiana. She died November 5, 2001. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 26, 2001.
Raised in Summit Lake, Del served in the United States Army as an engineer in England, France and Germany during WWll. Following his military service, Del lived in Indiana and Illinois for many years working for DuPont and later E. W. Saybolt as a petroleum inspector and as a Chicago/ Midwestern Regional Manager. In 1984 Del retired and returned to Summit Lake. He received his high school diploma from Elcho High School with the Class of 2001.

He was an active member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational in Elcho and the Men's Club. He is a life member of Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post #377 of Elcho and Langlade County Voiture 1204, 40 et 8, and Leland Tollefson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2653, Antigo.

Del was a member of Masonic Lodge 231, Free and Accepted Masons, Antigo, a life member of the Antigo Bass Lake Country Club, Elcho-Pelican Lake Lions Club, and Sno-Devils Snowmobile Club.

Survivors include three daughters; Sharron Voight of Elcho,
Phyllis Chaffer of Elmhurst, Il, and Kathy Oudenhoven of Hortonville; thirteen grandchildren Carrie (Rob) Olinske, Bret Voight, Marla (John) Parise, Jason (Sandra) Voight, Melissa (Andy) Ogden, Angela Voight, Amy Smith, Darin Voight, Christine (Ron)Turner, Kimberly Chaffer, Kaysie, John, and Laura Oudenhoven and 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, a sister-in-law Irma Schauer, Antigo.

In addition to his parents and wife, Del was preceded in death by 2 great grandchildren Samuel Cross Ogden and Emily Turner, a son-in-law George Voight, two brothers Charles Cross and Richard Cross and five sisters Irene Johnson, Lillian Nelsen, Loma Perry, Laura Kramer, and Lois Kaske.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, Hwy 45, Elcho. Rev. Jack LaMar will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:30 pm to 8:00pm on Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Bradley Funeral Home, Hwy 45, Antigo. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 6:00pm and Veterans Honor Guard will be held from 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the Bradley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday at church from 9:00 am to time of services. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery, Summit Lake following church services.
