Virginia Utnehmer long time Antigo resident died Wednesday March 21, 2007 at Sunny Ridge Care Center in Rio, WI. She was 93. She was born on October 16, 1913 in Smith Falls, Ontario Canada to Arthur and Anna (Bauer) Schmid. On July 21, 1930 she married Oscar J. Utnehmer in Beaver Dam. He preceded her in death January 19, 1990.

Virginia worked at Langlade Memorial Hospital for over 25 years. Following retirement she enjoyed gardening, needle work, canning, and playing cards with friends, ceramics and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She was a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo and its Rosary Society. In 1991 she moved to Portage to live with her daughter Faith Weix and helped with the Grapevine Newsletter of Columbia County.

She is survived by two daughters Barbara (Adrian) Leiterman of Antigo, Faith (Thomas) Weix of Portage. Two sons Arthur (Sue) of Plover and John of Sturgeon Bay.

13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a great granddaughter Trinity.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 24, 2007 at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann, officiating. Visitation including a 4:00 wake service will be held on Friday from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
