David Husnick, "Tomato" of Antigo, died Friday, November 24, 2017, at Care Partners in Antigo. He was 69 years old. He was born on April 21, 1948, in Antigo, a son of Leon and Lorraine (Fleischman) Husnick.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1966.
Following high school he served in the United States National Guard and worked for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for several years. Dave had a long career with Verizon working out of their Antigo and Wausau offices for 40 years.
He volunteered as a county league baseball coach and enjoyed the relationships with his former players as they renewed their friendship with "coach". For 25 years he and his son shared a special bond as partners in area pool leagues.
In his free time he played softball, golfed, fished and hunted.
Survivors include a daughter, Tracy Husnick, Antigo; a son, Brian (Carressa) Husnick, Antigo; he will be fondly remembered as "cookie grandpa" by two grandchildren, Avery and Harrisson Husnick; a sister, Jayne (James) Larson of Eau Claire; two nieces, Chloe Larson, Eau Claire, Jenny (Darryl) Husnick-Houghtelling of Condon, Oregon; and his former wife, Patricia Husnick, Antigo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, also at the funeral home.
