Walter "Butch" Riemer, of Mattoon, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 79 years old. He was born on January 27, 1938 in Mattoon, a son of Walter and Celia (Darling) Riemer.
He was a graduate of Mattoon High School with the class of 1956.
Butch farmed in the town of Hutchins for many years and was employed at the Wisconsin Veneer and Plywood Mill in Mattoon.
Survivors include sister, Aljeanne Ryan, Hortonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Graveside service will be held on Monday September 18, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion.

My best friend in High School. What a guy. We both got skunked together one day and the teacher would not let us in class until we went home and changed clothes. A great friend.
