Ronald Clark Ackerman, of Antigo, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was 78 years old. He was born on January 17, 1937 in Concord, Mass. a son of the late Clarence and Edith (Wheeler) Ackerman. He married Judith Utnehmer on August 13, 1960 at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Antigo.
He was a graduate of Fair Haven High School in Fair Haven, Vermont.
Ronald served in the United States Air Force, stationed at the Antigo Air Force Station, 676 Radar Squadron.
He was employed at Walt's Tire Service and owned and operated the Sinclair bulk plant both in Antigo. He worked for Parsons in both Bryant and Antigo and later retired as chief of maintenance for the Langlade County Housing Authority. After retirement he worked part-time for Parsons of Antigo.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Judith; two daughters, Mary Kaye (Ron) Pregler of Antigo, Susan (Ben) Bolte of Parrish; a son, Russell (Kris) Ackerman of East Troy; four grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa) Pregler of Ringle, Ryan (Beverly) Pregler of Antigo, Alexandra Kolpack (Ryan Roberts) of Luxemburg, Nathan Ackerman of East Troy; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jaxson and Oscar Pregler; brother, Philip (Rena) Ackerman of West Warwick, R.I.; sister, Janet Wooster of Poultney, Vt.; and a sister-in-law, Kaye (Myron) Mackiewicz of Antigo. He is further survived by 6 nieces and 3 nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Walter and Adela Utnehmer.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
