It is hard for me to tell you my trips have come to the last. I surely appreciate the kindness you have shown me in the past. Now if I have made mistakes please pardon and forget, for the man who doesn't make them has not been found as yet. Perhaps you think you will miss me, though it will only be for awhile as there will be another mail-man, who will serve you with a smile. Many years I've served Uncle Sam; I am sorry it's come to an end. you no more can call me the mail-man, but forever you can call me a friend. Many friends I've made on the route, oh, how the time did fly. It grieves me much now to get out and tell you all goodbye. I hope you'll lay these verses away with your treasures that are dear, and kindly read them again some day, in some other much later year.

To Pat and the whole family I am sorry for the passing of your dad. It has been a long time and memories have faded except for one. That being Pat's stories about his dad's "piss call." I hope that is a tradition you all carry on!
