Anton J. Drexler, of Antigo, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at KHTCR-Eastview. He was 84 years old. He was born on March 19, 1929 in the Town of Rolling, a son of Anton and Beulah (Walters) Drexler. He married Virginia Theisen on June 30, 1951 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. She survives.

He attended Fernwood grade school and served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1949 having flown supplies in the Pacific Theatre during and after WWII.

Following service he worked for Harvey Guenthner potato farms and Hunter's Grocery store for several years. He was a conscientious and safe truck driver for many years having driven for the Langlade County Highway department for 14 years and Wisconsin Bridge and Iron for 15 years. Mr. Drexler worked for the Bradley Funeral Home for 21 years providing maintenance of their former and present facilities.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Msgr. Conrad Saile Knights of Columbus Council 1002 and the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Post #3, all in Antigo.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and feeding birds in his backyard.

Survivors including his wife are a daughter Lori (Mark) Aldrich, Antigo; two grandchildren Stephanie (fiancee Seth Duprey) and Natalie Aldrich;

four sisters Dolores Zimmerman, Jeanette Breitenfeldt, Jane Breitenfeldt and Verna (Donald) Igl, all of Antigo; a brother Lawrence (Rosemary) Drexler, Antigo.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Earl Drexler; three brothers-in-law Joseph Zimmerman, Lawrence and Lloyd Breitenfeldt.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery where the Antigo veterans will conduct military rites.

Visitation will be on Friday from 3:30 - 6 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and on Saturday at the church in Hoffmann Hall from 9 a.m. until the time of services. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial is being established at St. John Catholic Church in Mr. Drexler's name.
