I spent a decade talking with Bob nearly everyday. It was always a positive interaction. I loved our quiet afternoons in the store after the restaurant closed at 2:30 in Jan., Feb. and March. In the first 5 years or so, we would both cross our arms and lean back on the bakery counter and proceed to talk together about all sorts of things going on in the world and share stories galore! Then, I would have to start cleaning and putting bakery items away for the next morning. When I became assistant manager of the store and had to train people and order things, I didn't have as much time to chat with Bob, which was part of the business I guess. My own father had passed away before I came to work at Quig' s in 1995, so Bob was a wonderful addition to my life because he was so similar to my father in thought and manner and my father had been in the Korean War. Listening to Bob's war stories reminded me of how hard it was for my own father to talk about those times and memories.
My heartfelt love goes out to all the Quig Family. The memorial service that Robert, Alan and Pam gave their Dad at Stonewall Orchard was perfect! Bob would have loved it!! And how do you cope losing a long-loving spouse Marion and what do I say?
I wanted to get up and share about Bob that day, but an anxiety attack took over my being! I figure Bob knows how I felt about him, I told him I loved him and that was what really mattered to me. Working with Bob and family at Quig's was one of the best 10 years of my life. So many great memories, I could go on and on....and it seems I have! Hugs to all for the world's loss of one great man.

Robert, Maryann, and family. I am sorry for your loss. My memory of Mr. Quig is going to the orchard store with girlfriends to buy doughnuts ,jams , and cider and every time Mr. Quig would tell me that he liked the doughnuts better the next day. He was always genuine , warm, friendly and sincere. May his memory be a blessing.
