Gertrude Schroepfer, longtime Antigo resident, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at home surrounded by family in Sheboygan. She was 92 years old. She was born on November 23, 1920 in Clintonville, a daughter of Hugh and Cora (Stillman) Waite. She married Albert Schroepfer on July 5, 1939 at St. Wencel Catholic Church in Neva. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2003.
She was raised in Clintonville and moved to Pearson with her parents. After marriage the couple moved to Chicago. They farmed in the town of Vilas from 1951 to 1973 and moved to Antigo in 1975. They were volunteer foster parents.
Mrs. Schroepfer was a homemaker most of her life. After raising her children she worked as a certified nursing assistant at Langlade Hospital, Eastview Nursing Home and in home health care.
She was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church and later a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo.
Survivors include seven children Richard (Karon) Schroepfer, Plover, Charles Schroepfer, Sheboygan, Mary Bruesewitz, Sheboygan, Larry Schroepfer, Antigo, Margaret "Peg" (Larry) Prince, Antigo, David (Laura) Schroepfer, Plover, Bonnie (Tom) Gregurich, Appleton;
17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren;
special friends Walter Blindauer, Joseph Kohlbeck, Marilyn Schoepfer; along with other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Pirtle, a son, Tommy Joe, a grandchild, Danny Gregurich, six sisters and seven brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremiah Worman officiating.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Following cremation burial will be in St. Wencel Cemetery at 10 a.m. Saturday.
