William Henricks, a longtime Antigo resident, died Monday, March 4, 2013 at Heritage Woods in Appleton. He was 93 years old. He was born on October 9, 1919 in Stambough, Michigan a son of George and Margaret (Schmitt) Henricks. He married Daphne "Dolly" Rouman on October 9, 1944 at St. John Catholic Church in Antigo. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2009.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1938.
Mr. Henricks served in United States Army Air Corps from 1939 - 1945. In January of 1942 he was on the first ship to leave San Francisco for the Pacific Theatre. He spent 32 months in Australia and New Guinea with the 49th fighter group.
After military service he returned to Antigo and worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, retiring as engineer in 1982.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #38 in Floresville, Texas and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2653 in Antigo.
Survivors include a daughter Barbara (Daniel) Pendergast, Menasha, a son Gregory (Lucy) Henricks, Floresville, TX; six grandchildren William (Leti) Henricks, San Antonio, TX, Barbara (Juan) Diaz, Floresville, Amy (Joseph) Wiesner, Manitowoc, Kathryn (Thomas) Gimler, Playa Del Rey, California, John (Erica) Pendergast, Neenah, Ann (Leland) Barlament, Kimberly; eight great-grandchildren Marissa, Gabriella and Daniella Henricks, San Antonio, Ana Barbara and Juan Marcelo Diaz, Floresville, Miguel and Liliana Barlament of Kimberly and Carter Pendergast, Neenah.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Richard, Robert and Donald Henricks, three sisters Margaret Henricks, Helen Lukowicz and Marie Hughes.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday in Hoffmann Hall at the church. Antigo veterans will conduct military rites following services at the church on Monday.
