Irene D. Wendt, of Antigo, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Homme Home for the Aging in Wittenberg. She was 86 years old. She was born on July 18, 1928 in Pickerel, a daughter of the late Oscar and Yarda (Person) Arndt. She married Vernon Wendt on April 28, 1951 in Antigo. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2015.

She graduated from Antigo High School in 1946.

Mrs. Wendt was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Company Factory in Antigo for five years and at the Red Carpet Bowling Lanes in Milwaukee for 16 years. While living in Milwaukee she was also a foster mother for several infants over a three year period.

She was a member of the Sparks-Doernenburg American Legion Auxiliary Unit 3, Antigo and volunteered for the Special Friends Program through the Antigo School District for seven years.

Survivors include a daughter, Jodean Wendt of Tucson, AZ; a brother, Allen Arndt of Green Valley, AZ and a sister-in-law, Corrine Arndt of Muskego.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Adrian Arndt and half brother, Arnold Bronson.

A memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Wendt will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverend Debbie Pimm officiating. Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
