Michal (mom).
So much could be said about this wonderful person. I feel I must express my perspective and feelings on her.
She had stages of life that truly defined her: daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother and not to forget a friend of many.
Her primary role was her immediate family - She was a wife of 51 1/2 years, a mother of 50+ years and a grandmother of 18 years. There is no doubt she was an anchor to our family as she built it up in love.
Her family role was many as she raised us kids- some call it a homemaker but there is far more to it than just that. Reflecting on such roles, she had to put different "hats" to meet the situation: nurturer, nurse, doctor, cook, cleaner, decorator, painter, gardener, landscaper, business partner, mediator, policewoman, judge, mentor, entertainer, chauffeur... to name just a few. No monetary value can be put on such yet the dividends are many.
In the end it can simply be said she was a wonderful partner and supporter of her husband (dad) and a great loving mother as well a grandmother - all of it being done in unselfish love (a fine biblical scripture that defines her is Proverbs chapter 31, verses 10-31)
She has indeed left a legacy (a gift) that has been handed down to each of us in the family (see family photo)
I will miss mom greatly but never forget her. She was one of a kind. My heart is filled with so much thanks for this wonderful person.
My hope which gives me a measure of comfort at this very difficult time of loss is the promised resurrection God will carry out. I look forward to one day meeting her again when God calls out to all those in the grave (memorial tombs) to come out to a new and better life (John 5:28 & Acts 24:15).
We wanted to share this with the family as a tribute to Michal:
When I'm Gone
by Mrs. Lyman Hancock
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile
Forget unkind words I have spoken
Remember some good I have done
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun
Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, at the close of the day
Then forget to grieve for my going
I would not have you sad for a day
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay
And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best
